REpowering Cities of the Future: Transitioning to Renewable Energy, November 10, 2021

ABOUT THE EVENT

According to the Department of Energy, in 2018 renewable energy sources such as geothermal, hydro, biomass and variable solar and wind power plants contribute 23.7% of total power generation, which is about a quarter of the Philippines' electrical supply. The rest of the nation’s electricity is generated from fossil fuels and coal accounting for 52.8 percent and 27.1 percent, respectively. With more than 30,000 people from 200 countries attending COP26 at Glasgow, Scotland, this Lab on Renewable Energy provided an overview of the global and local situation, best practices, and progress in meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement through the lens of PH and UK experts.
