ABOUT THE EVENT
Liveable Cities Philippines recently held its fourth lab of the year, Playground for Champions: Sports as the Foundation of Healthy Cities. The session underscored that sports should not be seen merely as a leisure activity, but rather as an essential driver in developing liveable cities. The conversation also highlights sports as vital urban infrastructure, a core public health strategy, and a proven pathway for developing not only athletes, but well-rounded citizens equipped to thrive in life.
A huge thank you to our esteemed speakers—Atty. Alberto Agra (Sports Lawyer, Sports Law Professor & Sports Law-for-All Advocate), Hon. Lucy Torres-Gomez (Mayor, Ormoc City), Hon. Faustino "Inno" Dy V (Mayor, Echague, Isabela), Jasmine Alkhaldi (Olympian & Manager, Atletang Ayala Leadership Development, under Ayala Foundation, Inc.), and John Patrick Gregorio (Chairman, Philippine Sports Commission)—for sharing their insights and expertise. Through strategic spatial planning and intentional sports development, we can create active, inclusive environments that foster health, nurture local talent, and build resilient, multi-generational Filipino communities for years to come.
